A classic way of getting rid of ground squirrels is to gas them. The Giant Destroyer (which also works against chipmunks, gophers/pocket gophers, ground hogs/woodchucks, moles, rabbits, rats, skunks, voles, and others) releases a sulfurous gas that asphyxiates these tunnel-dwellers. Simply light the fuse, place the Destroyer lit end down in the hole entrance, and quickly cover the Destroyer and the hole with soil. If the ground squirrel tunnel network is extensive, as it often is, you may need two or more Destroyers to fill all the below-ground spaces.
