Ultrasonic Squirrel Control Devices: Squirrels can hear these devices but people can’t. So when squirrels are exposed to their irritating or loud sounds they tend to stay away–just like you wouldn’t buy an apartment near a busy airport if you had a choice. The indoor units won’t effectively evict squirrels living in a house or other structure, but they can greatly reduce the chances of new squatters moving in. Both outdoors and indoors, ultrasound is blocked or reduced by obstructions (it is completely blocked by walls)–so ultrasound devices work better in clear yards than in cluttered landscapes, and in open attics rather than in ones studded with cartons or partitioned by dividers. Victor Pest Chaser® Rodent Repeller
The Pest Chaser® repels rodents (squirrels, rats, and mice) from indoor areas by emitting high-frequency ultrasonic sound waves (range: 32-62 kilohertz) to create an acoustically hostile environment. The sounds are completely inaudible to people and non-rodent pets. Rodents are unlikely to get used to the Pest Chaser®, because it has a complex output that varies in both frequency and intensity. The Pest Chaser provides coverage for a single space or room of about 400 square feet and works best when there are few intervening obstacles like furniture or stored products. A light on the unit shows when the Pest Chaser® is working. The united is rated to have an average service life of five to seven years. Yard Gard: ultrasonic repeller, AC or battery powered yard and garden protector by Bird-X
A strong and versatile ultrasound generator designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the Yard Gard can repel raccoons, squirrels, dogs, cats, skunks, deer, armadillos, opossums, rats, bats and other animals without disturbing birds or fish. Well-suited to protecting yards, gardens, patios, porches, greenhouses, garages, and building interiors, the weatherproof Yard Gard covers an area of up to 4,000 square feet and is easily mounted on a pole or flat vertical surface by means of keyhole slots at the back of the unit. The powerful (100+ decibels at 3 feet) ultrasound emitted by the Yard Gard can be adjusted to a wide range of frequencies (15,000 to 25,000 Hz) to deal with specific creatures. Powered either by 4 "C" cell batteries (not included) or by AC current, the Yard Gard comes with a 30-foot extension cord and a 110 volt AC adapter that has its own 6-foot cord. If set to operate intermittently (in either battery or AC mode) the unit will only generate ultrasound when its motion sensor detects movement within the sensor's 35 x 70 foot range. However, the unit can also be set to emit sound continuously if it is working in AC mode. Some people with good high frequency hearing can hear the unit at its low (marginally sonic) frequency settings, but this situation can be resolved by selecting higher settings. To repel squirrels and smaller animals, open up the frequency to the rodent setting, connect the Yard Gard to an AC outlet, and set it up for constant emission. Repelling squirrels from the area of a bird feeder can be a challenge because the seeds are a highly attractive food source. The sound waves from the Yard Gard only expand to a height of about 3 feet, and the sound goes out in a straight line, so it cannot go around objects such as trees. To get optimum performance, set the Yard Gard at a height or angle that will directly target the bird feeder and treat the bird seed with Squirrel Away™, a product that is inexpensive, harmless to birds, and offensive to squirrels. Evictor MB10K and MB100K Strobe Lights, also Effective against Raccoons and Roof Rats
The Evictor MB10K and MB100K are high intensity strobe lights that live up to their names-squirrels and other home invaders hate them. Squirrels are highly visual and find the Evictors extremely offensive and so intolerable, in fact, that they leave established nests in 24-48 hours. Squirrels, raccoons, or roof rats with nests hidden between floors or in walls can also be forced to leave by placing one of these devices in an area they must pass through to get food or water. These aggressive yet harmless animal control devices get around the need for labor-intensive trapping. In cases of chronic squirrel, raccoon, or roof rat infestation they achieve spectacular results. The Evictor MB10K, covers up to 900 square feet of floor space with its flashing light (a 30 x 30 foot area) and the MB100K covers an area up to 2,500 square feet (50 x 50 foot). The MB100K is 6.7 times more powerful than the MB10K and produces a million foot candles of light. Both devices need a reasonably uncluttered working area to prevent the light from being blocked. Nor will their light go through walls or around large corners; so more than one unit may be needed in areas with walls, multiple rooms, or L-shaped spaces. There are sample space layouts in the Floor Plans section at www.evictorproducts.com. The devices are very easy to install, portable, environmentally friendly, and energy efficient (the MB10K uses only 12 watts of power). They come with a full set of installation instructions and because they are long-lasting and economical, they can be kept on permanently once the squirrels, raccoons, or roof rats have departed to prevent re-infestation. Since their fast-flashing strobe lights bother people as well as pests, the Evictors should only be used in unoccupied interior spaces. It's advisable to limit exposure to the light and we recommend using or installing a switch that allows the device to be turned on or off at a place out of range of its light. If you need to place the device in an area without an AC outlet you can run a power strip with an on/off switch instead of an extension cord from an existing outlet. People with medical conditions aggravated by strobe lights should definitely avoid exposure. The units use 120 volt AC current. They involve no chemicals, noise, or odor and produce very little heat. The Evictor MB10K and MB100K units come with a 5-year limited manufacturer's warranty on their hardware and a 1-year warranty on the strobe tube, which has an expected life of 10,000 hours. Building structures are so variable that we cannot guarantee complete success in all cases; but there is no question that these devices really work and will evict flying squirrels, grey squirrels, most other squirrels, raccoons, and roof rats under a wide range of indoor conditions.
